Breastfeeding Resources

What to prioritize in the early days…

  • Bond with your baby by doing skin to skin as much as possible.  Skin to skin increases baby’s desire to breastfeed, boosts hormones that facilitate bonding, and boosts milk production.

  • Get your milk factory running! Focus on removing milk 10-12 times every 24 hours.  Breastfeed, hand express, or pump for 15-20 minutes.

  • Make note of feeding times and durations, as well as wet and soiled diapers.

  • REST!  This is the time to reach out to your support system.  Ask for help with meals, childcare, and housework so that you can prioritize resting and fueling your body while you bond with your baby.
